Steering Shaft
Connecting the steering column to the gearbox or rack and pinion is the intermediate steering shaft. This component, which typically incorporates a steering universal joint on each end, allows the steering gear and column to be slightly off center to each other. Over time from use and corrosion, the ends of the shaft can degrade, requiring replacement.
When choosing a replacement intermediate steering shaft for your vehicle, first confirm the year, make, and model of your vehicle. Then, from the remaining compatible options, choose the one that best fits your application and budget. For custom applications, proper measurement is key. Confirm the adapters on each end of of the steering shaft will fit the steering column output shaft as well as the gearbox/rack and pinion input shaft.
