Year 39 Of JEGS Allstars Begins This Weekend At Texas NHRA FallNationals

The 2023 JEGS Allstars will take place at Texas Motorplex for the first time ever during the Texas NHRA FallNationals in Ennis, Texas. 

“We’re really looking forward to all of the Texas Motorplex’s plans to shine a huge spotlight on the JEGS Allstars and the incredible competition that will take place at their facility,” JEGS Vice President of Marketing Ralph Mondeaux said. “This has always been such an exciting and unique event, and JEGS continues to be committed to theracers by making this event even better every year. It’s such a great addition to the Texas NHRA FallNationals and the Stampede of Speed, and we can’t wait to see all the racers and teams compete for titles on this big stage in Texas.”

The event will crown champions in 10 separate categories, Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman, as well as an overall team title. Racers qualify for the event by earning points in their home divisions and regions throughout the season. 

"Supporting the racing community has been a foundational value here at JEGS since we opened our doors in 1960. We are honored to celebrate the 39th JEGS Allstars event and continue our tradition and participation in this iconic event!" JEGS Director of Marketing, David Salin said. 

The JEGS Allstars is an event that fills many racers' bucket list of races to win. Winners will receive a custom-made JEGS trophy. 

We expect a Texas-sized good time and are excited to honor some very talented racers at this prestigious and highly-coveted event. Good luck, racers!

Driver Bios

East Region

Name: Jackie Fricke

Category: Top Alcohol Dragster

Car  Number: 5

About: Jackie earned her Allstar spot by being the East Region champion for the last three consecutive seasons. She has had her car since 2019 and her favorite memory is winning Indy. 

Name: Matthew Cummings

Category: Top Alcohol Dragster

Car  Number: 2

About: Matthew earned his Allstar spot by currently holding the number one spot in the East region with two events and a runner up. This is his 4th year with the McPhillips team. His favorite memory in this car is winning his first National Event in Norwalk. Matthew’s most memorable round that helped him clench is Allstar spot having to drive his dragster with all he had to clench the win. He is very lucky for all of the opportunities and progress in the sport he loves.

About: Matt earned his Allstar spot by working hard to keep his car fast, safe and consistent. His car has a 2016 body and a 2019 chassis and Matt’s favorite memory is winning the first race. He would like to thank his father and crew for making the right tuning calls. Without everyone’s support and effort, Matt believes none of this fun and success would be possible. 

North Central Division

Name: Mike Coughlin

Category: Top Alcohol Dragster

About: Mike earned his Allstar spot by competing in the North Central Region and winning the Bowling Green and Columbus Regional events. This is his third season driving for McPhillips racing in his yellow and black ride. His favorite memory is winning this year’s Charlotte 4-Wide on a Triple Holeshot. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was beating his teammate Tony Stewart in the final of the Columbus SportsNationals Regional with a lot of friends and family around. Mike loves drag racing and would love to thank his wife, kids, and entire family for supporting him. 

Name: Andy Bohl

Category: Top Alcohol Funny Car

About: Andy earned his Allstar spot by winning the Joliet race and posting a runner up finish at the Bowling Green race. He has been racing his current car for three years. His favorite and most memorable moment is winning Joliet. He is working hard to get his Nitro Funny Car license next year.

About: Sean earned his Allstar spot by his success in the North Central Region over the past year. In the last 2 years racing his current car, his favorite memory is winning the U.S. Nationals in 2022. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his All Star spot is winning the Norwalk Regional. This is his first JEGS Allstars and he is very excited to represent the North Central Region to the best of his and his team’s ability! 

Central Region

Name: Aaron Cooper

About: Aaron earned his Allstar spot by his Belle Rose win and Topeka runner-up in the car he has been driving for 8 years. His favorite memory is seeing the smiles of his father and crew after his first win in 2022. His most memorable round that helped him clench his Allstar spot is the first round at the Topeka Regional where he posted a 5.21 E.T. at 280 m.p.h. Aaron and his team are coming with a well maintained car and are ready to compete with the best of them! 

Name: Julia Nataas

About: Julia earned her Allstar spot by winning the JEGS Allstars in 2022. She began driving for her team in 2017 and her favorite memory is the U.S. Nationals in 2022 when she doubled up winning the JEGS Allstars and National Event. Her most memorable round that helped her clinch her Allstar spot is the final round of the JEGS Allstars in 2022 when the body flew off her car.

About: Bob earned his Allstar spot by consistency in his 2023 Camaro. His favorite memory is winning the Norwalk National and his most memorable round that helped him clinch his spot was the final round win at the Dallas Regional this year.

About: Kyle earned his Allstar spot by performing and working hard in the car he has been driving for four years. His favorite memory is winning the 2022 JEGS AllStars or winning the 2022 Central Region Championship. His most memorable round that helped him clinch his Allstar spot is winning the 2023 Topeka Regional Event. He is a 3-time JEGS Allstar Qualifier and a 2 time finalist! 

West Region

Name: Joey Severance

About: Shawn earned his Allstar spot by having the most points within his region and winning the first two races in his car that he has had since 2010. His favorite memory was winning his first race back this year after his motorcycle accident.

About: Chris earned his Allstar spot by doing his best at NHRA events this year. Chris will be driving for another car owner at the JEGS Allstars this year as his own car sits for retirement at home. His most memorable round that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was the final round at Woodburn in Steve Gasperralli’s Funny Car this year. Chris has only been racing for 10 years and has had his fair share of ups and downs, but drag racing is his passion and nothing makes him happier. Northeast Division 1

Name: Joe Carnasciale

Category: Comp Eliminator

Car  Number: 12

About: Joe earned his Allstar spot with his fast and consistent car that he has been driving since 2013. His favorite memory in his current car is the 2013 Atco Divisional race where he set the record in I/SMA, got low qualifier, and got his first Wally. He would like to thank his father and all of the other great people that helped him build the engine, clutch work, transmissions, and make it go down the track. 

Name: Ken Robinson

Car  Number: 1262

About: Ken earned his Allstar spot by 30 years of hard work! He bought his current car in 1985 for $500 and took him 2 years to turn it into a Stocker. His favorite memory in his car is his first Divisional win at Cecil County. His most memorable round that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was round 4 against his teammate and friend, Bob Bender, who went red and gave him a clear shot to the final. He would like to thank his parents, his wife, Patty, and all of his friends. 

Name: Joe Lisa

Car  Number: 17

About: Joe earned his Allstar spot by going to the final of the first Division Race of 2023. He purchased his 1987 Camaro Super Stocker in 2007 from Michael Iocono and his favorite memory is winning the 2022 4-Wide Nationals. Without the love and support from his family, racing wouldn’t mean as much to him as it does. Although he has been to nine national event final rounds, his proudest moment was watching his son Matt win the 2021 U.S. Nationals. 

Name: David Russell Long

Car  Number: 1441

About: David earned his Allstar spot by winning the Epping Lucas Oil D1 Race and the Maple Grove Lucas Oil D1 Race. He has had his car since 1993 when S&W Race Cars built it for him and his favorite memory since then is winning his first D1 race at Atco on Father’s Day with his daughter Rachel. His most memorable round that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was his first round win at Numida this year. He would like to thank his two daughters, Elizabeth and Rachel, and his wife Maryellen. 

Name: Rich Price

Category: Super Gas

Car  Number: 14

About: Rich earned his Allstar spot by winning a lot of Allstar rounds this year. He has had his car for 10 years and his favorite memory in it is winning at Virginia Motorsports Park in 2019 that put him into the top 10 in the National Points. His most memorable round that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was going to the finals at Numidia Dragway this year. Rich has been racing for over 30 years and has met so many great people along the way with his “Time to Move Racing” team which. 

Name: Jay Neville

Category: Super Street

Car  Number: 103N

About: Jay earned his Allstar spot by securing some Allstar points this season. He has had his car since 2002 and his favorite memory is his first D1 Wally in 2011 at Atco Raceway. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was winning the first round of Numidia this year, despite bending a pushrod in his time run and only running on 7 cylinders. When not at the track, Jay teaches at a tech school in the automotive department and has been married to his wife Dee for 32 years.

About: Shawn earned his Allstar spot by having the most points within his region and winning the first two races in his car that he has had since 2010. His favorite memory was winning his first race back this year after his motorcycle accident. 

Name: Alan Kenny

About: Alan earned his Allstar spot by his impressive two final rounds, one win and one runner up, and only one first round loss. Although he has been driving his car for 10 years, his favorite memory is his JEGS Allstar win in 2021. His most memorable moment that helped him secure his spot in the 2023 Allstars was the final of Atco against his good friend Chuck Krepela. Alan has been NHRA racing for 51 years and has finished in the top 10 of the Lucas Oil Series National Points 4 out of the last 5 years.

About: Brandon secured his spot in this year’s Allstars event by winning the 2022 JEGS Allstars which has been his favorite memory. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his Allstar spot is beating tough competitor Alan Kenny.

About: Brandon earned his Allstar spot by being the Top Sportsman points leader. His father built his car in 2011 and Brandon started racing it last year. Since then, his favorite moment has been the 2023 4-Wide win. 

Name: Ron Riegel

Category: Top Sportsman

About: Ron earned his Allstar spot by being the blocker for Division 1. He built his car 13 years ago and his favorite memory is racing his wife in a match race. He would like to give a shoutout to his friend Scott McCracken who helped him build his car from the ground up including its 762ci naturally aspirated motor. Ron has been in the top 10 for the last 13 years and is a previous JEGS Allstars and division champion. 

Southeast Division 2

Name: David Lynn Eaton

Category: Comp Eliminator

Car  Number: 213

About: David earned his Allstar spot by winning three events and posting 2 runner up finishes. He built his car 22 years ago including the frame, rear end housing, body mold, and carbon fiber body and panels. Additionally, after buying the motor from Gray Motorsports four years ago, he rebuilt and freshened it. His favorite memory in the car is winning the GatorNationals. 

Name: Wes Leopold Jr.

About: Wes earned his Allstar spot by having two Divisional wins. He recently got a new car that he has had for around 2 months. Wes is a Divisional 3 Champion in Stock, won the Spring Nationals in 1991, and is a two-time Gators runner up. 

Name: Jeff Longhany

Car  Number: 2952

About: Jeff earned his Allstar spot by a slew of impressive wins, runner-ups, and late round finishes. He has had his current car for around 4 years after he and his brother Eddie Jr. purchased it rolling. His favorite memory in the car is winning the Virginia Nationals in 2022. Jeff comes from a very close-knit family. He is a proud father of his two children, Harper Grace and Jeffrey Charles, and husband to his one true love, Tiffany. 

Name: Sherman Adcock

About: Sherman earned his Allstar spot by winning the Rockingham Divisional and posting a runner-up finish at the Adel points meet. He has had his car for 3 years and his favorite memory is running his teammate Hugh Meeks in the finals at the 2022 Gators. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was winning the third round at the Adel points meet against the points leader at the time. Sherman would like everyone to know that he is living the dream! 

Name: Rusty Cook

Category: Super Gas

Car  Number: 3604

About: Rusty earned his spot in the 2023 Allstars by being the blocker. Since getting his car in 1999, his favorite moment was winning his first JEGS Allstars event in 2011, his first year participating. His most memorable run that helped clinch his Allstar spot was letting go .000 perfect in the final and having his granddaughter Anna there to help make the moment even more special. 

Name: Sherman Adcock

Category: Super Gas

Car  Number: 2958

About: Sherman earned his Allstar spot by winning four Divisional races this year. In the 2 years of owning his car, his favorite memory is winning the Charlotte National this year. Sherman feels that the win that helped him clinch his spot was the one at the Reynolds Divisional.

Name: Hugh Meeks 

Category: Super Stock

Car  Number: 23

About: Hugh knows that D2 has a stout seasoned, as well as new coming generation of drivers so he considers himself very lucky to be able to get a couple wins during the Allstar season. Glynn Smith graciously offered Hugh to drive his Super Stock car in 2020 and since then, Hugh’s favorite memory was his first win at the Galot D2 race. He is very fortunate to be associated with Glynn Smith and Glynn Smith Chevrolet who is a big supporter of NHRA Drag Racing. 

Name: Mike Crutchfield

Car  Number: 22

About: Mike earned his spot as an Allstar by being last year’s champion. He has owned his car since 2008 and his favorite memory is winning the 2022 JEGS Allstar event at Indy. Mike has a lifelong passion for drag racing which he has built his life and work around. 

Name: Doug Ramsey

Category: Super Street

Car  Number: 204

About: Doug earned his Allstar spot by his strong second half of the 2022 season with back to back wins at Galot and Rockingham. He originally built his car in 1990 and started racing it in 1992. After an unfortunate accident in 2020, the car was completely rebuilt. His favorite memory in his car was winning the 2019 50th Annual GatorNationals and being the first person to ever win Super Street at the GatorNationals.

Name: Jacky Bennett

Category: Top Sportsman

Car  Number: J275

About: Jacky earned her Allstar spot after winning the Rockingham Divisional and the Orlando Divisional. Jacky also won the D2 Top Sportsman Points Championship. She just finished building her new car 3 months ago and is ready for the 2023 JEGS Allstars. 

North Central Division 3

Name: Scott Chamness

Category: Comp Eliminator

Car  Number: 31

About: Scott earned his Allstar spot by making good runs when he needed to and adding some lucky rounds to go with it. He has had his current car for 22 years and his favorite memory is winning back to back Norwalk races, the Divisional and the National, and getting the coveted ice cream scooper. Scott’s family has been involved in racing for more than 50 years and he knows that all those late nights paid off. 

Name: Brent Darroch

Category: Stock

Car  Number: 31

About: Brent earned his Allstar spot by winning D3 Stock in 2022 and winning the Chicago Divisional in 2022. He purchased his car brand new in 1994 as his first car and in 1999, he turned it into a Stock Eliminator car. His favorite memory in the last 29 years is winning the IHRA World Championship and D3 Stock Championship in the same year, 2012. His most memorable race that he feels helped him clinch his Allstar spot was Norwalk this year where he was .00x three out of the five rounds. He owns his own performance mechanic shop at home where he specializes in custom exhaust and is the head varsity basketball coach. He is a father to Brent and Gia. 

Name: Derek Denney

Category: Super Comp

Car  Number: 32

About: Derek earned his Allstar spot by a variety of late-round finishes throughout the season. He has been racing his car for four years and his favorite moment is winning the Super Comp Shootout at the SFG Promotions $1.1 Million Dollar Race earlier this year. He feels that the round that helped him clinch his spot was 3rd round of the Indy divisional last year. He had to win round four and the current points leader had to lose. Derek went on to runner-up the event. Derek is a self-employed business owner of Denney Mechanical, LLC and has been married to his wife Amy for 28 years. Derek and Amy have three daughters, Kendall, Camryn, and Caity. 

Name: Devin Isenhower

Category: Super Comp

Car  Number: 5

About: Devin earned his Allstar spot by being a blocker. He has had his current car for 10 years and his favorite moment is winning the Super Pro Championship in 2020. He feels the round that helped clinch his spot was winning the double-breakout by .001 in both the semis and the finals of the 2022 JEGS Allstars Event. 

Name: Bob Locke

Category: Super Gas

Car  Number: 1

About: Bob earned his Allstar spot by a win and runner-up at the double Divisional in St. Louis. He has been racing his current car for 8 years and his favorite moment has been traveling to Pomona last year to win the NHRA World Championship. He feels the round that helped him clinch his spot is a final round win against the reigning World Champion, Luke Bogacki in St. Louis last fall. Bob is a blessed husband and a proud father. 

Name: Jeremy Duncan

Category: Super Stock

Car  Number: 3012

About: Jeremy earned his Allstar spot by back to back runner-up finishes at the last two qualifying races. His dad built and raced his car in 1984 and Jeremy started racing it in 1993. In 2020, he switched to a big block setup and it is currently a 396 375hp combo. His favorite memory is racing with his father, Elwood, and his sons, Avery and Rhys. He feels that the moment that helped clinch his Allstar spot is beating Bryce Frantz for a bye to the finals at Indy. 

Name: Philip Smida

Category: Super Street

Car  Number: 3684

About: Philip earned his Allstar spot by his back to back wins at the D3 Divisional in St. Louis and going rounds at the remaining Divisional races. He has had his current car for 10 years and his favorite memories are winning the 2013 US Nationals in Super Gas and the 2018 JEGS Allstar Event in Super Street. He is a five-time D3 Champion in Super Street and Super Comp, five-time National Event Winner, and has 11 Divisional wins. 

Name: Al Peavler II

Category: Top Dragster

Car  Number: 7

About: Al earned his Allstar spot by winning two events this season. He has had his car since 2013 and his favorite memory is winning his first D3 Championship. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his spot was winning Norwalk against his son, Blake. He loves watching his son excel in racing and even feels it is more rewarding than his own accomplishments.  

Name: Curt Fredrich

Category: Top Sportsman

Car  Number: 8

About: Curt earned his Allstar spot with a win at the Joliet Revival and a semi-final finish at Bowling Green. Bob’s ProFab built his 1968 Chevy Camaro in 2009 and he couldn’t ask for anything better. His favorite memory is doubling up at Columbus, winning the D3 race and winning the JEGS SportsNationals all in the same weekend in 2011 and winning the Norwalk ice cream scoop. Curt says it is an honor to represent Top Sportsman and North Central Division 3 at the JEGS AllStars, he never would have dreamed he’d be here. 

South Central Division 4

Name: Chase Williams

Category: Comp Eliminator

Car  Number: 6

About: Chase earned his Allstar spot by a lot of hard work. He has had his car since 2016 and all memories that include a winlight are his favorite. Chase feels that Comp Eliminator in D4 is as tough as it gets where first round pairings could just as easily be final round matchups. Each and every round were tough and critical to clinching his Allstar spot. 

Name: Jeff Lopez

Category: Stock

Car  Number: 4311

About: Jeff earned his Allstar spot by winning the last race of the Allstar season. In the 7 years of having his current car, his favorite memory is doubling up the Ennis Double Divisional. 

Name: Mark Powers

Category: Super Comp

Car  Number: 423C

About: Mark earned his Allstar spot by his Division wins at the 2022 Texas Motorplex event and the 2023 Belle Rose event paired with a long list of late round finishes. He has had his 2005 Mullis for 19 years and his favorite moment is his first NHRA Divisional win in 2022. The round that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was fifth round at the 2023 Texas Motorplex Double Divisional. Mark bought his first dragster in 1995 and have been racing for the last 28 years. 

Name: Austin Williams

Category: Super Gas

Car  Number: 7

About: Austin earned his Allstar spot by earning the most points in Super Gas. He has been racing his Orteq Camaro owned by Buddy Wood and Cody Ortowski since June 2020. His favorite memory is winning the Stampede of Speed National Event in 2021.

Name: Brandon Bakies

Category: Super Stock

Car  Number: 49

About: Brandon earned his Allstar spot by racing against the toughest racers in the country in D4. He has had his car since 2013 and his favorite memory is winning the Dallas National Event twice in four years. Although each round is special, the one that sticks out the most that helped him clinch his spot is the final round in Dallas last year. Brandon would like to give a big thanks to SAM Tech. The instructors and students have helped him tremendously over the years, as well as his engine builder, track tuning, and crew. 

Name: Regan Wilson

Category: Super Street

Car  Number: 169C

About: Regan earned his Allstar spot by a long list of successes over the Allstar season. Regan has owned his truck for over 42 years, and before that, his brothers and sisters used to drive it which makes it so important to Regan. He made his first pass down the dragstrip in it at Interstate 20 Dragway in Tyler, Texas in 1981. In the many years he has owned his truck, his favorite memory would be the trip to Joliet in 2008 for his first Allstar race. He was accompanied by his wife Kristi, daughter Jamie, and long-time friend Ken. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his spot was defeating his friend Kent Hite in the first round at Texas Motorplex. Regan loves a challenge and is representing team trucks in a sea of race cars.

Name: Rusty Baxter

About: Rusty earned his Allstar spot by good finishes in 2022 and perseverance in 2023. In the 9 years of owning his car, his favorite memories are winning the U.S. Nationals in 2019 and 2023. Without the support of his wife, Kay, and his son, J.R., he wouldn't be able to do this. 

Name: Lance Abbott

Category: Top Sportsman

Car  Number: 1

About: Lance earned his Allstar spot by an outstanding 2022 season including a double-up at Dallas, a runner-up at Tulsa, and a semi-final and win in Topeka. He bought his truck in 2006 and debuted it in 2008 racing Texas Pro Stock and brackets before starting his Top Sportsman career in 2017. His favorite memory is last year in Pomona where he was able to win the NHRA World Championship and follow it up with his first National Event Victory. Lance doesn’t feel there is a single round that helped him clinch his spot but rather a conversation in the lanes with Reagan Wilson, the D4 SS Allstar representative that lit a fire inside him and helped him focus even more. Lance would like to thank his Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, his wife, Liz, and his father for riding across the country in an old beat down truck. 

West Central Division 5

Name: James Greenheck

Category: Comp Eliminator

Car  Number: 5622

About: James earned his Allstar spot by winning the most points in D5 Competition Eliminator. In the last 11 years of owning his car, his favorite memories are winning Indy and the GatorNational this year. James is glad he is still able to be doing this at this level and is honored to clinch his Allstar spot. He would like to thank his wife, Debbie, crew chief, Brandon, and crew member, Casey. 

Name: Tom Cain

Category: Stock

Car  Number: 5202

About: Tom feels the moment that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was his Division 5 win in Denver. In the last 12 years of owning his car, his favorite memory is purchasing it.

 

Name: Larry DeForrest

Category: Stock

Car  Number: 541

About: Larry earned his spot by winning the 2022 JEGS Allstars which has been is favorite memory in the last eight years of owning his car. The most memorable moment that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was when he won a heads-up final in Iowa. Larry first started racing in the NHRA in 1966, bought his first Super Stock car in 1973, won his first points meet in 1977, and the rest is history. 

Name: Chris Bishop

Category: Super Comp

Car  Number: 5486

About: Chris earned his Allstar spot by his runner-up finish in Denver and solid rounds in Topeka. Chris has had his 2019 American Race Car Dragster for four years and his favorite memory is his 2020 Brainerd Track Championship. He also finished in the top 10 in Super Gas last year.

Name: Roger Sauder

Category: Super Gas

Car  Number: 512

About: Roger earned his Allstar spot with a win and semi-final finish at Earlville and quite a few solid rounds in remaining events. He has had his car since he was 15 years old and it has been on track racing NHRA classes from High School E.T. to Super Gas for 43 years. In the 45 years of owning his car, his favorite memories are winning the 2014 JEGS Allstars in Chicago in Super Street and being a part of the first D5 Team Championship. The round that helped him clinch his spot was his final round win against his friend Jeff Cheney in Earlville. Roger’s Cuda is the only race car he has ever driven besides in 2015 at the JEGS Allstars event when his car was in the shop and his friend Casey Wagnre let him drive his beautiful ‘97 Avenger and Roger won the race.

About: Tyler earned his Allstar spot by scoring the most points in Super Stock D5. He has had his car since he was 17 years old when it was a streetcar that he and his dad turned into a race car. His favorite memory is winning his first National Event. 

Name: Donald F. Durenberger

About: Donald earned his Allstar spot by driving the Bishop’s Performance/Seafoam Nova to a win at the Topeka Double this year. He has driven his Nova for one year and his favorite part is honoring Joel Sandstrom, the car’s previous owner who passed away two years ago. Donald is still a motorcycle drag racer at heart and would like to shout out the Stoffers, Greg Underdahl, Craig Treble, Michael Philips and all his dragbike friends. Donald was an extra in the movie Purple Rain!

About: Matthew earned his Allstar spot by winning the D5 Top Dragster Championship last year. In the three years of owning his car, his favorite memory is going below the index at Brainerd in the Divisional last year. The round that helped him clinch his spot was the final round in the Topeka Double.

About: Allen earned his Allstar spot at the Denver Double. In the nine years of owning his car, his favorite memory is winning his first Division Championship and the JEGS Allstars in 2020. The round that clinched his spot was his first round win in Denver against Steve Stockten. 

Northwest Division 6

Name: Cody Lane

Category: Comp Eliminator

Car  Number: 5

About: Cody earned his Allstar spot by winning three D6 events in 2022, a double-up at Woodburn, and won the Acton race, where he also won Stock at the same event. The Hancock & Lane team built Cody’s 2005 Chevy Cavalier and he debuted it in Super Stock when he was still in college and in the same year, he won his first National Event. Cody has two favorite moments in this car. The first one is when he and his dad double-upped at the Phoenix Divisional in 2017 and the second is when he and his dad double-upped the Seattle National Event in 2016. The round that helped him clinch his Allstar spot was the final round win against Steve Szupka. This win also allowed Cody to double up the weekend in Stock and Comp. Cody is a father of two boys, Callahan and Carter and he hopes to get an Allstar win for them. 

Name: Joe Sorenson

About: Joe earned his Allstar spot by attending all D6 races and performing well at each one. He has had his current race car for 20 years that he built with his brother, Hal. His favorite memory is racing his brother in the final round in Medford, Oregon. Joe is no stranger to the JEGS Allstars and is hoping that this year, he can achieve his first win. 

Name: Garrett Sides

About: Garrett earned his Allstar spot by having a very solid 2022 season. He bought his car at the beginning of last year and his favorite memory is winning the Flav-R-Pac Seattle National Event this July. The round he feels helped him solidify his Allstar spot is his final round win at Yellowstone Raceway. Garrett is very happy to get the opportunity to represent D6 at the Allstars and hopes to do as well as his dad did in 2014.

About: Michael earned his Allstar spot by winning two of the last three qualifying races. In the seven years of owning his car, his favorite memory is winning the Seattle National Event in 2019.

About: Troy earned his Allstar spot by going lots of rounds at multiple races throughout the season. He has owned his car for 23 years and his favorite memory is winning Class in Indy years ago. Troy is very excited to have earned his Allstar spot after a busy summer of moving, racing, and getting married.

About: Josh earned his Allstar spot by winning the first Division races that started the points. He has owned his car since 2002 and his favorite memory is when he, his father, and brother triple-upped a shootout in Canada. Josh won Super Street, his father won Super Gas, and his brother won Super Comp. A round that stuck out to Josh that he feels helped him clinch his Allstar spot is when he raced his good friend Allen Macham in the final round of a Divisional.

Name: Robert Strohm

About: Robert earned his spot by what he says are rare moments of brilliance combined with luck and consistently making one less mistake than his opponent. He finished his car in his garage at home in 2008 and has been racing it ever since. His favorite memory is winning the JEGS Allstars in 2021 and the Division 6 Championship in 2012. He feels his three-thousandths package at the Winter Nationals this year helped clinch his Allstars spot. He wants to thank his wife for supporting his love for drag racing and give her credit for helping assemble and install the motor, swapping transmissions and converters, setting the valves, general maintenance, doing the weather, dialing the car, and even drives it back from every run.

Name: Ryan Priddy

About: Ryan earned his Allstar spot by winning the Phoenix Divisional at the beginning of the year. The car was built in 2018 as a Pro Stock car before it was assembled to a Comp Eliminator car. His favorite memory in the car is winning his first National Event in 2020 at the Las Vegas 4-Wide. The race that helped him clinch his spot was his win at Bakersfield last year. 

Name: Parker Theobald

About: Parker says he is still wondering how he earned his spot in the 2023 Allstars where he gets to compete against some of the best racers in the country. He has been racing his 1969 Plymouth Barracuda for close to 2 years now. Before he started racing Stock in 2022, he raced Super Comp starting in 2016. His favorite part about his car is spending time with his dad, his family, and working on the car. He believes the race that helped him clinch his spot is the Phoenix race earlier this year that gave him the confidence to compete at a high level. Parker wouldn’t be able to do this without his parents, wife, Makinzie, siblings, and his best friends. He would also like to thank Mcnasby-Zane 101, On the Stop Workshop, and Jason Lawrence. 

Name: Tanner Theobald

About: Tanner earned his Allstar spot by having a solid span of races with a quarter-final or deeper finishes at each event. He has a 2021 Miller Dragster that was built brand new that has been very consistent ever since. His favorite memory is the first race out with the car where they broke a transmission in the second run and after swapping it out, he ended up with the win at the Las Vegas Divisional event. Parker is the 2016 Super Comp Division 7 Champion, 2022 Sonoma National Event Winner, and the 2023 Las Vegas Denso National Winner. 

Name: Steve Parsons

About: Steve earned his Allstar spot by winning twice in D7, Bakersfield in 2022 and Las Vegas 2022. He purchased his car in 2007 from Charlie Stewart Race Cars and his favorite memory is winning the NHRA World Finals in his first race in the car. His most memorable memory that helped him clinch his spot is either beating Mike Wiblishouser in the final round at Bakersfield or Ed Destaute in the final at Las Vegas. Steve is a three-time National Event winner and was a member of the last D7 Allstar team to win in 2022. He feels that if this was a D7 beauty contest, he would win hands down. Steve would like to thank his talented wife, JJ.

Name: Ryan McClanahan

About: Ryan earned his Allstar spot by a win and fourth round finish at Famoso and a fourth, fifth, and sixth round finish at Las Vegas. He has had his car for 16 years and his favorite memory is winning the 2010 Super Stock National Championship. He believes the round that helped clinch his spot was his final round win in Famoso.

About: Art earned his Allstar spot by lying to his wife! You read that right… He told her he was testing her car when he was supposed to let her start driving it and he qualified for the Allstars. He has been racing this car for one year and actually prefers it over his 230 mph Top Dragster. He isn’t sure what the car is going to go, either 10.80 or 11.10, so it always keeps him on his toes. He wants to thank his wife for letting him drive his car.

About: John earned his Allstar spot by winning the 2022 JEGS Allstars event surrounded by family and friends which, after breaking his motor the day before, is his favorite memory in the car after owning it for 15 years. After getting the car fixed, he had the 2021 Champion round one and he was able to get the win which gave him the confidence to keep going. John would like to thank his wife and kids.

About: John earned his Allstar spot by winning the Las Vegas Divisional in 2022 and his 4th round finishes at Phoenix Divisional and Las Vegas race. His car is a 2017 Sarmento RED 260” wheelbase. The car was involved in a top-end crash at Pomona Winternationals and was just front-halved by Wade Ramsey at Sarmento Race Cars, the motor was freshened by QMP Race Engines, and the Coan Transmission was just freshened by Westminster Performance Transmissions. He wants to thank the Safety Safari for doing a great job keeping him safe. John is 75 years old and still working at the job he loves and hopes to keep racing a couple more years.

About: Dean earned his Allstar spot by three wins and going lots of rounds. He has had his RJ Race Cars ‘63 Stingray for 17 years and his favorite memory is getting his first NHRA Top Ten and a JEGS Allstar win in the same season. His most memorable moment that helped him clinch his spot was the final round in the 2nd Famoso Divisional when he won the race in his backup car after having engine issues. That was the start to three wins in four races.
