Over the weekend at the New England Nationals, Troy Coughlin Jr. showcased his exceptional talent by clinching a remarkable victory in the Pro Stock category of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. The event, which marked the seventh race of the 2024 season, witnessed Coughlin's outstanding performance as he outpaced his competitors and secured his first win of the season.

In a thrilling final round showdown, Coughlin displayed remarkable skill and precision behind the wheel of his JEGS.com/White Castle Pro Stock car. Facing off against reigning world champion Erica Enders, Coughlin delivered a flawless run, clocking in at 6.584 seconds at 210.05 mph. However, it was Coughlin's lightning-fast reaction time of .013 seconds that proved to be the decisive factor, enabling him to edge out Enders and clinch the victory.

Reflecting on his impressive performance, Coughlin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete against top-tier competitors like Enders. He credited his rigorous training regimen and focus on self-improvement for his success on the track, emphasizing the importance of consistency and dedication in the sport of drag racing.

"It was definitely a wonderful day," remarked Coughlin. "Erica is fast. She hits the tree well and it’s an honor just to race her. When I practice every week on a simulator, you’re asking nothing more of yourself than you do each week on the track. You’re just racing yourself and you need to be that way when you’re running a champ like Erica."

Coughlin's victory at the New England Nationals marks a significant milestone in his career, adding to his impressive record of 13 national event wins overall and five Pro Stock victories. This win also marked his second victory against teammate Erica Enders, with whom he has raced in a total of four final rounds. Despite his impressive record, this was Coughlin's first final round of the 2024 season and the 11th of his Pro Stock career.

The final round race between Coughlin and Enders was described as a tight side-by-side drag race, with Coughlin ultimately winning by a margin of four thousandths of a second.

En route to the finals, Coughlin defeated Brandon Miller, teammate Aaron Stanfield, and Dallas Glenn in the earlier rounds.

Erica Enders, Coughlin's teammate and opponent in the final round, also had an impressive performance throughout the event, qualifying in the No. 1 spot and reaching her 81st career final round appearance.

The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series continues next weekend with the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway June 7th through June 9th.
