There's nothing quite like a massive set of imposing wheels and tires on a Jeep Wrangler. However, before you decide to upgrade your wheels or tires it's important to know what sizes you can work with on a stock suspension. Factors like the type of Jeep and if you've installed a lift kit can all impact the tire size you can fit on your Wrangler.

Jeep Wrangler JL Tire Guide (2018-Present)

The Jeep Wrangler JL comes in a handful of models, each with its unique Jeep Wrangler tire size. It's also important to note that tire sizes will change based on the wheels you have and the size of your lift kit (if you have one). We list the tire sizes you'll need to know when shopping for a Jeep Wrangler JL (2018-present) below.

Sport And Sport S 

The Jeep Wrangler Sport is the base model for the 2018-present period. Sport models don't come with a lot of features and the Sport/Sport S Jeep Wrangler stock tire size is 245/75R17. This applies to the Sport, Sport S, and some other base model options. Optional tire sizes include 255/65R18, 245/60R20, 275/45R22, if you also change the wheel size.

Willys And Willys Sport

The Willys Jeep Wrangler is an homage to older models from decades ago. These models are built on the Sport platform, but with a factory jeep wrangler tire size of 255/75R17 for Willys/Willys Sport models.

Optional tire sizes include 255/70R18, 275/55R20, and 275/45R22, if you are ok with changing the wheels as well.

Sahara And Sahara Altitude

Sahara models are some of the most luxurious Jeep Wranglers you can find with plenty of quality-of-life features. Comfort aside, these jeeps also come with a higher price tag and feature larger wheels and tires. For the Sahara, you'll need tires that are 255/70R18.

Optional tire sizes include 255/75R17, 275/55R20, and 275/45R22, if you also change the wheel size.

Unlimited Moab

The Moab has a unique set of tires and is the only Jeep during this production year to feature 255/75R/17 tires. It has these tires for improved style and off-road performance.

Optional tire sizes include 255/70R18, 275/55R20, and 275/45R22, if you are ok with changing the wheels as well.

Rubicon, Rubicon Extreme Recon, And Rubicon 392

One of the most notorious Jeep Wranglers is the Rubicon. Tires for the Wrangler Rubicon are 285/70R17. The Jeep Wrangler (Unlimited) Rubicon uses with 255/75R17 tires. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 came with 285/70R17 tires. The Rubicon Extreme Recon Wrangler left the factory with 315/70R17 Tires. Optional tire sizes include 255/70R18, 275/55R20, and 275/45R22, if you are ok with changing the wheels as well.

Jeep Wrangler JL Tire Sizes With Lift Kits

The following are possible options for tire sizes with lift kits. Again, you must verify or measure fitment before purchasing and installing

  • 35" X 12.50" tires using factory 18" wheels
  • 35" X 12.50" tires using 17" x 8.5" aftermarket wheels with 0 to +1 mm offset
  • 35" X 12.50" tires using 17" x 9" aftermarket wheels with -12 to +18mm offset
  • 35" X 12.50" tires using 18" x 8.5" aftermarket wheels with 0 to +1mm offset
  • 35" X 12.50" tires using 18" x 9" aftermarket wheels with -12 to +18mm offset
  • 35" x 12.50" tires using 20" x 9" aftermarket wheels with 0 to +1mm offset
  • 295/60R20 tires using 20" x 9" aftermarket wheels with -12 to +1mm offset

Jeep Wrangler JK Tire Guide (2007-2017) 

The 2007-2016 Jeep Wrangler JK has a handful of different tire sizes depending on the model. While the year isn't usually important, the specific model of your Wrangler is. For example, the Rubicon and Sport models have different tire sizes. Learn about all the appropriate sizes below.

Sport And Sport S

The Jeep Wrangler JK's base model is the Sport and Sport S. They feature 16-inch or 17-inch steel wheels, so you'll need 225/75R16, 245/75R16, or 255/75R17 tires.

Optional sizes include 245/75R17, 235/65R18, and 265/45R20 should you choose to upgrade the wheels.

Black Bear 

The Black Bear model is one of the best options if you're looking for style and it's named after Black Bear Pass Trail, which is located in Colorado. While it's built on the Sport platform, it has unique decals and tires. For this model, you'll need 245/75R17 tires.

Optional tire sizes include 225/75R16, 235/65R18, or 265/45R20, if you also change the wheels.

Mountain, Arctic, Moab, And Islander

Jeep had a thing for making special edition vehicles in the 2010s and the Mountain and Islander are kind of like twins because they were introduced at the same auto show in Detroit. Both models feature the same tire size of 255/75R17, so most of the differences come down to styling.

Optional sizes include 245/75R17, 235/65R18, and 265/45R20 should you choose to upgrade the wheels.

Willys Wheeler

These models share most components with the Sport and Sport S. However, they have unique elements, badges, and a better gear ratio for off-roading. For these models, the best tire size is usually 255/75R17.

Optional sizes include 245/75R17, 235/65R18, and 265/45R20 should you choose to upgrade the wheels.

Freedom Edition

Who doesn't like a little freedom? One of the most popular JK Wranglers is the Freedom edition, which is built on the Sport platform. This means that it shares many parts with the sport, including the wheels and tires. So, look for 255/75R17 tires.

Optional sizes include 245/75R17, 235/65R18, and 265/45R20 should you choose to upgrade the wheels.

Sahara And Sahara High Altitude

Another popular model, the Jeep Wrangler JK Sahara pays homage to older Wranglers. That said, it's packed with more comfort features and aggressive styling. The Jeep Wrangler JK Altitude is built on the same platform as the Sahara, so look for 255/75R17 or 255/70R18 tires.

Optional tire sizes include 225/75R16 and 275/55R20, should you decide to change the wheels as well.

Rubicon And Rubicon Recon (Including Unlimited)

Jeep Wrangler Rubicons are known as some of the best vehicles you can use for style and off-roading. Aside from components that enhance off-road prowess, the Rubicon also comes with bigger wheels and tires. For the Rubicon, you'll need 255/75R17 tires.

Optional tires include 225/75R16, 255/70R17, and 275/55R20, should you decide to change the wheels as well.

X

Jeep Wrangler X trim levels came from the factory with either 225/75R16, 245/75R16, or 255/75R17 tires.

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R17, 235/65R18, and 265/45R20, if you want to also change the wheels.

Anniversary Edition

There were many Jeep anniversaries during this production line. The 70th Anniversary Edition was equipped with 255/70R18 tires, and the 75th Anniversary Edition needs 245/75R17 tires. Rubicon also had the 10th Anniversary Edition, which requires 265/70R17 tires.

Optional tire sizes include 225/75R16, 235/65R18, 255/70R18, 265/45R20, or 275/55R20 tires if you also change the wheels.

Jeep Wrangler JK Tire Sizes With Lift Kits

The following are possible options for tire sizes with lift kits. Again, you must verify or measure fitment before purchasing and installing

  • 35" X 12.50" tires using aftermarket 18" x 8.5" wheels with 0 to +1mm offset

  • 33" X 12.50" tires using aftermarket 20" x 10" wheels with -25 to -18mm offset
  • 33" X 12.50" tires using aftermarket 22" x 10" wheels with -25 to -18mm offset

  • 305/70R17 tires using aftermarket 17" x 8.5" wheels with 0 to +1mm offset
  • 305/70R17 tires using aftermarket 17" x 9" wheels with -12 to +1mm offset

Jeep Wrangler TJ Tire Guide (1997-2006) 

Jeep Wranglers manufactured from 1997 to 2006 can have several different tire sizes depending on the model. Learn about each model and the tire sizes that fit them below. These Jeeps are known as Wrangler TJ.

Standard And "X"

Jeep Wranglers without a designated trim level used either 205/75R15, 215/75R15, or 225/75R15 tires. Optional sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55R20, provided you also upgrade the wheels.

SE

The SE Jeep Wrangler TJ is one of the base model variations of the Wrangler made from 1997 to 2006. This model requires 205/75R15, 225/75R15, or 215/75R15 tires.

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55R20, provided you also change the wheels.

Sport Models

The Sport models have some performance upgrades over the SE, which include better gears and off-roading capabilities. Tire sizes for the Sport and Sport Unlimited Edition are similar to the SE, so you'll need 215/75R15, 225/75R15, or 30x9.5-15 tires.

Optional sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55R20, provided you also change the wheels.

Sahara And Unlimited Edition 

The Jeep Wrangler Sahara had a few variations and unique models during the TJ's long run. One of the most common variations is the Sahara Unlimited Edition, which was released after the Paramount film, Sahara. Its tire size is the same as the base Sahara, which is 225/75R15. A 30 x 9.5/15 tire size was also available. Optional sizes include 225/75R15, 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55R20, As long as you also change the wheels.

Rubicon And Unlimited Rubicon

The TJ Rubicon has a few variations but the tire size remains the same across all models. For the Rubicon, you'll need tires that are 245/75R16.

Optional tires include 205/75R15, 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/60R18, and 275/55R20, assuming you also change the wheels.

X Rocky Mountain 

One of the biggest variations in tire sizes comes from the Rocky Mountain edition. This is one monster of a Jeep Wrangler and can climb rocks and shred any trail. Tire sizes for this model are 30×9.50R15.

Optional sizes include 225/75R15, 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55R20, As long as you also change the wheels.

Jeep Wrangler JK Tire Sizes With Lift Kits

The following are possible options for tire sizes with lift kits. Again, you must verify or measure fitment before purchasing and installing

Jeep Wrangler YJ Tire Guide (1986-1996)

Jeep Wrangler YJs are the first version of Jeep Wrangler to hit the market. There are several models and wheel sizes to choose from. Learn about the tire sizes needed for each model of Jeep Wrangler from 1986 to 1995.

Standard

Jeep Wranglers without a trim level came with either 205/75R15, 215/75R15, or 225/75R15 tires.

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55-20, provided you also change the wheels.

S and SE

The S and SE trims are base model trims that were used for several model years. Tire sizes for the S and SE are typically 205/75R15, 225/75R15, or 215/75R15.

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55-20, provided you also change the wheels.

Laredo

Jeep Wrangler Laredos are unique but not too big of a jump from S and SE models. These vehicles come with a chrome grill, alloy wheels, and Laredo decals. The tire size for this model will include 225/75R15, 215/75R15, or 205/75R15.

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55-20, provided you also change the wheels.

Sport and SE Sport

The Sport models hit the streets in 1991 and feature a more powerful engine and enhanced off-road capabilities. However, they're still similar to base and Laredo models so the tire size is similar. You'll need 225/75R15 or 215/75R15 tires for Sport models.

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55-20, provided you also change the wheels.

Sahara

The Sahara is one of the more luxury-focused for this production group. It comes with everything that base models have to offer but with enhancements like decals, larger wheels, and a better sound system. The tire size for this trim level is 225/75R15, 215/75R15, or 205/75R15. 

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55-20, provided you also change the wheels.

Renegade and Islander

The Renegade and Islander were options for the Jeep Wrangler. Renegades were made from 1990 to 1994 and Islanders were made from 1987 to 1993. These Wranglers feature better wheels, style choices, and even lifts. The tires needed for the Islander are 215/75R15 and the tire size for the Renegade is 225/75R15.

Optional tire sizes include 235/70R16, 255/55R17, 255/55R18, and 275/55-20, provided you also change the wheels.

Rio Grande

The Rio Grande is a step-up from many models in this production group but it was only available in 1995 and used to give some flair to the Sport model Wranglers. Therefore, the tire size is similar to Sport and SE models, which are 215/75R15 or 225/75R15.
