When it comes to aftermarket wheels, choosing the right set can be extremely overwhelming. Today, drivers can choose from hundreds of wheel manufacturers and thousands of models. However, lots of them are of questionable quality, or too expensive, and this is where VMS Racing comes in. With great design, affordable price, and good quality, you are sure to get a wheel worthy of your sports car.

Is VMS Racing a Good Brand for Race Wheels?

VMS Racing is a renowned manufacturer of racing parts and accessories. They offer a truly extensive range of products from interior parts such as shift knobs, to exterior mods, and motorcycle accessories. They also have a range of performance parts such as short shifters and suspension lowering kits. Last but not least, VMS Racing proudly offers wheels that are popular among many car enthusiasts. You will most often see VMS Racing wheels on Chevrolet Camaros, Subaru WRXs, Ford Mustangs, and Dodge Challengers. Regardless of the make and model of the car, the drivers are always satisfied with the VMS wheels’ qualities.

Drag Wheel Quality

One of the most appealing aspects of VMS Racing is that they have developed a range of wheels specifically designed for drag racing. When it comes to this sport, every bit of weight reduction or aerodynamic improvement counts, as hundredths of a second can decide the winner. Additionally, wheels for drag racing typically have specific dimensions that are different from standard wheels for the street.

In terms of quality, a VMS drag wheel is a safe choice. The finish of every design is immaculate thanks to high-quality standards and the use of modern production technology. Not only that but the VMS drag racing wheels are preferred for their cast aluminum and milled design.

The fact that these wheels are made of cast aluminum ensures that they are as lightweight as possible, while not being anywhere as expensive as wheels made of carbon fiber. Additionally, aluminum wheels can have more complex designs than ones using inferior materials, because the technology used in the production has higher accuracy and allows ideal weight and material distribution.

Moreover, milled design wheels, such as VMS Racing wheels have a far better appearance than painted wheels. Milling requires higher precision, as the finish is achieved by removing a thin layer of material from the surface of the wheel. This underlines the extensive quality control and attention to detail in the production of the VMS Racing wheels. Additionally, this process leaves the wheel shinier and smoother than with any other method. This is why VMS Racing wheels are also perfect for show cars.

Value & Cost

The VMS Racing wheels are becoming more and more popular both among professional drivers and car enthusiasts. They are specifically recognized for their value proposition. A VMS wheel is relatively affordable, yet by far outpaces the quality of the competition. You are unlikely to get another wheel with such great value and appealing styling for the same price, which explains why these VMS Racing wheels are so popular, and often talked about at car meets and on online forums.

Further adding to the value proposition is the fact that with VMS Racing you are sure to get everything you need for your new set of wheels at one stop. This is because VMS Racing offers aluminum air valve stems in various designs, as well as lug nuts.

Racing Rim Styles

There is a plethora of rim styles to choose from, whether it is the standard range of racing wheels or the one intended for drag strips. As such, you will find wheels fitting for muscle cars from the 1980s, the newest hot hatches, and anything in between.

In terms of design, you can choose from simple V-star designs and unusually complex-looking ones, such as the Revolver Series wheels. Most VMS Racing wheels are finished in black with silver accents, but you can also opt for rims in gold milling, or a more traditional silver with a polished design.

Our Favorite VMS Racing Wheels

Because drag racing wheels are the pinnacle of what VMS Racing offers, we must mention a few of our favorite models for the drag strip.

One of our favorite models from the VMS Racing Wheels lineup is the Black Hawk Drag Race, which is made to fit, for example, the Honda Civic and Acura Integra models. You’ll find it under the product number VWBH002. Why do we like it so much? It is a 12-spoke wheel finished in gloss black and unlike most other wheels, it is milled, and not painted. What’s even more important is that the Black Hawk Drag Race wheel in the 15x8” size weighs only 15 pounds. Last but not least, the wheel is fully street legal, and both VIA and JLL approved.

The Single Beadlock Drag Race V-Star is just as good but this time, it is intended solely for Dodge Chargers and Challengers, including the SRT 392 and Hellcat models. A beautiful two-tone wheel with a 5-spoke design and a thick rim with an unusual design. Available in black milling and made of cast aluminum, this wheel is the perfect upgrade both in terms of looks and performance. It is sized at 17x10” and weighs 25 pounds. If this is something you’d like, you can find the wheel under part number VWST082.

Last but not least, the true pinnacle of the VMS Racing wheels for us is the Modulo design. The looks of these wheels numbered VWMO030 are eye-catching and perfectly fitting for a proper dragster. Intended specifically for S550 Mustangs, these wheels are 17x10' and weigh 20 pounds each. Like all other VMS wheels, even these are legal for the streets, milled, and made of cast aluminum.

These are only a few of the options you have when shopping for wheels for your sports car, and they are all great. With a wide range of designs and sizes, you are sure to find the right model for your car. Keep in mind that although the wheels mentioned above are intended only for specific models, VMS Racing offers all wheel designs in several different sizes, so you are likely to find them even for your specific car under a different part number.
