These spacers are CNC-machined from a phenolic fiber material that drastically reduces heat transfer from the lower plenum to upper plenum of the intake manifold. This in turn produces lower inlet air temperatures for increased power. In addition, phenolic spacers provide additional clearance for taller valve covers.
